Fourth Annual LVATV Winter Trip
To the Sproul and Haneyville Trails
by Jim Allen

In early March the club made it's fourth winter trip to the Sproul and Haneyville trails. The Sproul ATV trail is located in the Sproul State Forest about ten miles west of town of Renovo in Clinton County. The Haneyville ATV trail is located in the Tiadaghton State Forest in Lycoming County about twenty miles east of Renovo.

Most of the club members attending stay at the "Summersons Motel" or the "Sportsman's" in North Bend, which puts us about midway between the trailheads. This year twenty-two club members participated in the event.

Over the years we have had anything from seventy degrees and sunshine to twenty degrees and snow. This year we had beautiful weather, mostly sunny and the temperatures were in the sixties each day.
It made for a great mid winter vacation. On Thursday Mike Micucci led one of the groups on a tour of some of the many trails in Sproul. At the same time, Steve Skolnick and Phil Leinhauser led other groups on tours.
On Thursday evening, the whole group went to the "Sportsman's" motel for a great dinner and conversation. One of our members even wanted to build his famous "Mountain of Peas", but we'll save that story for another time.

After dinner, most of us traveled down the road to "Yesterdays" for ice cream. On Friday several of us visited the Haneyville trail and spent the day exploring the scenic trails. Friday evening we all joined together at the "Riverview Inn" for the Friday nite seafood buffet.
For some it was "See food, eat it". We all were back at Sproul for Saturday for another day of riding. On Saturday we also took the opportunity to give the chainsaw a workout and clear some of the downed trees and brush from the trail.
It looks like there must have been some pretty major windstorms on the North end of the trail this winter. The conditions were near perfect and on Saturday many other riders were out on the trail as well.
The parking lots were overflowing, See yea on the trail
